Are You Still Drunk In The Morning?

Drinking with colleagues or friends on a weekday is always a fun time. Relaxing after a long day of work couldn’t get any better with an ice-cold bottle of beer quenching your thirst and offering a joyful buzz. However, after a late night out like this, not only is getting home a problem, but you stress your mind again by the anticipation of the hangover you will feel the following morning.

Many drivers worry about DUIs after a late night out at the bar. They designate a driver or just call their significant others to come pick them up. A bigger worry they should be having is getting to work the next morning. According to a police report, outlined in an article from MetroNews, “232 drivers were charged against or got their license suspended last year for impairment — all between 6am and noon on weekdays.”

Many drinkers mistakenly assume that sleeping off alcohol will bring down your blood-alcohol level by morning. However, with enough drinking “you can still blow over 80 in the morning,” remarks Const Ian Brooks of EPS’ impaired driving countermeasures unit. Normally, you will never be able to tell if you are just having a headache from a bad night sleep after drinking, or if you really are still “drunk.”

A simple blow into a personal breathalyzer can protect you both from an accident or a police arrest. Never assume you have built up enough tolerance level to overcome a hangover. Such misguided confidence could not only get your license taken away, but also cost you your career.
